From Clapton to Slash: 50 years of guitar legends live on stage
This year marks their 10th year of touring, and they are celebrating with a very special anniversary production. Expect an upgraded, high-energy show packed with detail, precision, and passion.
With meticulous attention to tone and performance, they recreate the unmistakable sounds of guitar legends including: Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Brian May, Jimmy Page, Hank Marvin, Chuck Berry, Mark Knopfler, Slash — and many more.
Using an astonishing collection of over 30 authentic guitars!. The show captures every nuance of guitar history. From the warm twang of a 1950s hollow-body to the soaring sustain of modern rock and metal. Every sound is delivered with breathtaking accuracy, making each era instantly recognisable.
Meet the musicians behind 'The Story of Guitar Heroes' band
Behind the show is a powerhouse lineup of highly respected musicians:
Phil Walker – One of the UK’s most versatile guitarists, with extensive international touring experience across multiple genres.
Ben Kapur – Multi-instrumentalist and blues-rock performer, discovered by Geoff Baker (PR to Paul McCartney) and appointed Musical Director for the renowned Guitars on the Beach event.
Chris Taylor – A classically trained musician (BA Hons Music) who has toured and recorded worldwide, including collaborations with Robbie McIntosh (Paul McCartney’s guitarist) and boogie-woogie legend Ben Waters.
Chris Allan – An accomplished drummer with UK and European touring experience, as well as extensive work in TV and radio as a session musician.
Together, they bring decades of professional experience and a shared passion for celebrating the guitar in all its forms.
The Heart of Rock-it Saturday
The Story of Guitar Heroes serves as a cornerstone of our Rock-it Saturday (May 23rd) lineup. They provide the perfect historical context for a day dedicated to the power of the guitar. On Saturday, the Walled Garden will be buzzing from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM with a diverse range of genres:
The Legend: The day is headlined by the iconic Donovan, whose psychedelic folk-rock revolution paved the way for many of the heroes featured in the show.
The Modern Masters: You’ll also catch the blues-infused rock of Gary Cain, the energetic indie vibes of Galaxy Thief, and the vintage mastery of the Chris Corcoran Trio.
The Virtuosos: From the contemporary bridge of Laura Snowden to the intricate fingerstyle of Callum Buckley, Saturday is a true celebration of string mastery.
A Weekend like no other
While Saturday is all about the “Rock-it” energy, the festival transforms on Sunday, May 24th into Spanish Sunday. The distortion pedals are swapped for the passionate, acoustic rhythms of Flamenco and Latino music, featuring world-renowned master Juan Martín and the fiery Rebeca y Ramon.
Set within the beautiful, sheltered Walled Garden at Upton Country Park, the festival offers more than just music. Between sets, you can head to our Pop-up Courtyard Cafe and Bar for drinks and snacks, and on Sunday, you can enjoy a full menu of authentic Spanish Tapas.
