The Purbeck Guitar Festival ’24, spanning Saturday 25th May to June 1st, brought Wareham and Purbeck together to celebrate a great variety of guitar music. Hundreds of people across Dorset visited the Priory Church of Lady St Mary to listen to maestro guitarists Juan Martin, Carlos Bonell, and Martin Taylor.

MAJOR CONCERTS

The Purbeck Guitar Festival featured multiple world class guitarists including the incredible Jazz guitarist Martin Taylor, the famous flamenco guitarist Juan Martín, and world renown classical guitarist Carlos Bonell, all appearing at the lovely Priory Church of Lady St Mary in Wareham.

LOCAL EVENTS

As Purbeck folk ourselves, we always hoped that this event would not only be a great local spectacle, but also something beneficial to local businesses.  As it turned out, many local hospitality businesses did join in, and others also felt the benefit of extra drinkers and diners!

Kingston Country Courtyard hosted a special guitar evening with the Dorset Guitar Society Orchestra, with a Spanish twist, followed by a delicious Tapas buffet.

A number of local pubs and bars, including the Duke of Wellington and the Horse and Groom hosted gigs during the festival week.

NEW ANNUAL EVENT

Given the positive feedback the festival enjoyed we decided it would be the first of an annual Guitar Festival taking place in Purbeck!
